1Le présent décret peut être cité sous le titre : Décret sur les coordonnées géographiques pour la mer territoriale.

Interprétation

2Dans le présent décret,carte S.H.C. signifie carte du Service hydrographique du Canada; (C.H.S. Chart)coordonnées géographiques de points signifie la latitude et la longitude de points établis d’après les colonnes II et III des annexes I à IV; (geographical coordinates of points)Loi signifie la Loi sur la mer territoriale et les zones de pêche; (Act)région, suivie d’un chiffre, comprend toutes les îles et tous les hauts-fonds découvrants qui sont adjacents à la région, suivis de ce chiffre. (Area)

Dispositions générales

3Les listes de coordonnées géographiques de points établies dans les annexes I, II et III sont émises comme listes de coordonnées géographiques de points d’après lesquelles des lignes de base peuvent être déterminées en vertu de la Loi, à l’égard des régions auxquelles s’appliquent les annexes.

4(1)En ce qui concerne les secteurs des régions 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 et 6 pour lesquels les coordonnées géographiques de points sont établies dans l’annexe I, les lignes de base sont des lignes droites reliant les points qui sont ainsi indiqués.(2)En ce qui concerne le secteur de la région 2 pour lequel les coordonnées géographiques de points sont établies dans l’annexe II, la ligne de base est la laisse de basse mer le long de la côte reliant les points qui sont ainsi indiqués.(3)En ce qui concerne les secteurs des régions 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 et 6 comprenant les îles nommées et les hauts-fonds découvrants décrits dans l’annexe III, les lignes de base sont les laisses de basse mer des îles et des hauts-fonds découvrants.

5La liste de coordonnées géographiques de points établie dans les parties I et II de l’annexe IV est publiée comme liste de coordonnées géographiques de points permettant de déterminer, en ce qui concerne le secteur de la région 3 auquel se rapporte cette annexe, la limite extérieure de la mer territoriale qui se substitue dès lors à celle qui est établie en application du paragraphe 3(1) de la Loi :a)au moyen de segments de droite joignant les points indiqués à la partie I;b)par une ligne géodésique joignant les points indiqués à la partie II.DORS/93-51, art. 1
