Regulations Respecting Mail to and from Canadian Armed Forces Outside Canada Served Through Canadian Forces Post Office and Fleet Mail Office Addresses
SHORT TITLE
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Armed Forces Postal Regulations.
INTERPRETATION
2. In these Regulations,
- “addressed admail”
“addressed admail”[Repealed, SOR/91-631, s. 1]
- “book”
“book”[Repealed, SOR/94-208, s. 1]
- “Canadian Forces Post Office”
“Canadian Forces Post Office” or “CFPO” means a military post office operated outside Canada by the Canadian Forces Postal Service to provide postal services to persons to whom these Regulations apply; (bureau de poste des Forces canadiennes ou BPFC )
- “C.O.D. Service”
“C.O.D. Service”[Repealed, SOR/91-631, s. 1]
- “civilian”
“civilian” means a person who is a Canadian citizen resident outside Canada and is
(a) a dependant of a member of the Canadian Forces stationed outside Canada,
(b) a civilian employed by the Department of National Defence, or
(c) a technical representative of a department of the Government of Canada, the government of a province or of a Canadian private agency; (civil)
- “direct mail advertising”

- “first class mail”
“first class mail”[Repealed, SOR/90-802, s. 1]
- “first class parcel”
“first class parcel”[Repealed, SOR/90-19, s. 1]
- “Fleet Mail Office”
“Fleet Mail Office” or “FMO” means a military post office operated by the Canadian Forces Postal Service to provide postal services to any vessel of the Canadian Forces commissioned as a vessel of war; (bureau de poste navale ou BPN)
- “Forces Air Letter”
“Forces Air Letter” means an item of stationery, authorized by the Canada Post Corporation, for use by
(a) any member of the Canadian Forces who is served through a Canadian Forces Post Office or Fleet Mail Office address in writing to persons in Canada, and
(b) any person in Canada in writing to any such member of the Canadian Forces; (lettre-avion pour militaire)
- “Fourth Class mail”
“Fourth Class mail”[Repealed, SOR/88-611, s. 1]
- “fourth class parcel”
“fourth class parcel”[Repealed, SOR/90-19, s. 1]
- “international parcel”
“international parcel”[Repealed, SOR/90-19, s. 1]
- “letter mail”
“letter mail” means any letter or other mailable matter that meets the applicable requirements of these Regulations and is posted for surface transmission; (envoi poste-lettres)
- “letter-post item”
“letter-post item” means a letter posted in accordance with these Regulations for transmission by air. (envoi de la poste aux lettres)
- “Parcel post”

- “postal facility”

- “small packet”

- “third class mail”
